I find myself with plenty of time at work, but too tired to write, so instead I decided to start reading. I picked up The Magician's Guild by Traci Canavan, and I realized a few things: My books are very quick paced, (I told the story in Realm of Man in a fraction of the length of The Magician's Guild) I need to slow down and flesh things out a little more, add a little more flavor to the scenes.
Another thing I noticed is that I tend to transition from scene to scene very well. I'm not sure if it's because there's little content in the scenes themselves, or if it's because I'm good.
I plan to go through what I've written in Lostling and make things a little bit slower, and I already had plans to go though Realm of Man and make numerous changes there.
The only trick now is to find the energy to do it.
